No, I think the limo; that seven-four-six,
That's the one he'll buy and fix,
To take apart in easy stages,
About which to write in these pages ...

How about it, Alan? You know that you want to ... J.
... as always John - absolutely wonderful!

PS. I'll get the 'ode to...' trilogy printed and framed :-)

Default Finishing Touches...

I'll be very sad to see the RB go, but I know it is the right thing to do. The motor car just isn't getting used enough here, but will enjoy being put out to pasture on the lovely Scottish Borders.

I'm finishing off the last few bits and pieces for the RB. This morn I put the back of the car on some ramps and checked the rear axle oil. Whilst there I noticed now clean and solid the motor car is underneath. I read many stories on these pages of much younger 240s needing sills, wheel arches and floors replacing, but not the RB. I'm happy to pass the motor car on to its new owner in rude health.

I had a spare gearbox cross member, so I spent half an hour cutting out two extensions and welding them on this morn:

The new owner will just have to drill the 4 x M10 holes to line up with the threaded ones on the chassis when he fits the AW71 gearbox. That will be one less job to do in Selkirk.

This afternoon I'll pack up a spares box for the RB to take to Scotland :-).

Alan

... and that 6 door limousine is sorely tempting John, that must be almost unique in the country.

You could of course , buy the limo , weld up the back doors . Cut the roof , bend it down behind the 2 front seats, weld it in, take off the boot lid and make a pick up up for transporting all the bikes !
Now there's a project that would keep you busy.

Well, there is a thought Bob :-).

Off topic I know (there was one at some point !), but I found these....

I wonder what £5,595 could have got you back in '77 ?

PS. I recently had to do some catching up on the post , only to find that the RB was gone to cooler climes. I love the newer acquirement , Similar lines (just similar) , to the old Rovers .
Can you get Wire wheels for that beauty ?

Well Bob, in 1977 the price of an average house in the UK was £9,737 - so £5,595 might have bought a nice flat in somewhere like Leicester. In that context a Volvo 240 was pretty expensive!

I'm pleased you like the Amazon (GAM), so do I. I'm not so sure wire wheels would suit it, I have these:

... and these for the winter:

I like Steelies, but the 122S looks nice with the wires.
It's a '64 so not dissimilar to yours .
