M41 72mm Bearing
I'm looking for a 72mm rear bearing housing for a M41 gearbox, based in the UK.

I believe VP Autoparts sells them.
However, if you look at the race of the bearing you will find a number stamped on it. Usually on the side of the outside race; but, I have seen the number on the side of the inside race. Take that number to your local bearing vendor and they can probably set you up quickly. Depending on the vintage of your gear box it might be 6306 https://www.grainger.ca/en/product/p...E&gclsrc=aw.ds |

Hi,
I have had a look through my parts and the Haynes manual and I am sorry to report that I dont believe I can help. My manual shows M30 and M40 types but not the M41. I have an M41 gearbox case and the alloy spacer (can be alloy or cast iron PN 380183) which bolts between gearbox and overdrive. I presume the part you require fits to the box case and is sandwiched between the gearbox and the 380183. I have the rear housing for the M40, which has a smaller bearing and also has the speedo drive take off point, this does not appear to be easily adapted for your needs. I also have the cast iron front bearing housing ( with the chimney looking input shaft tube and 3 equally spaced mounting holes) which does measure 72mm across for the bearing, but again not easy to adapt for you. Sorry I cannot help. Chris. |

Hi Chris, many thanks for taking the trouble to look for the bearing housing, yes you are right I'm looking for the bearing carrier between the gearbox casing and the alloy adapter housing 380183 (the search continues!) However I may be interested in the alloy adapter housing 380183. Are you able to send/post some photo's of it, and how much would you want for it, that is if you want to sell it. I will try and attach an image of the parts I'm looking for. Thanks again. Graham.
