Default Cutting out at traffic lights & rough idle

Hello there. I have a 2009 S40 petrol manual.

Since I had the car about 4 years ago it has always had a rough idle (if that's the correct term). It seems to vibrate more than normal when stationary at traffic lights or whatever. This is the whole of the car, including the steering wheel. I think rev's seem to be at about 1200. It's never seemed normal, but I've learned to live with it.

The other issue is that very occasionally the car will cut out when coming to a stop at traffic lights etc. The rev's drop right down to about 200-400 for a short time which can occasionally cause the car to cut out, and I then have to restart the car, which it does with no problem. I had new spark plugs fitted a couple of years ago but that made no difference.

Could this be an issue with the IACV (Idle Air Control Valve)? I've been really happy with the car since I've had it and these couple of things are the only annoyances I have. I've bought myself a Haynes Manual and am hoping that I may be able to have a go at removing it, giving it a clean and then replacing it. I'm not a mechanic but if I can get to it without having to dismantle the engine I'm minded to give it a go.

Any thoughts on what people think the issue might be? Many thanks
