Is it holding fuel pressure OK after switch off? Could be a reason for hard cold starts.

Sorry I forgot to update this, i haven't done any more investigating since my last post, been focused on trying to get the clutch sorted. TonyS9 yes the pressure seemed to hold above 20psi until about an hour after switch off but I did consider the check valve, seems the fuel delivery side of things is ok. I did jumper the red and grey wires for the radio suppression relay and it didn't make any noticeable difference. I wondered if the idle problem could be related to the switch side of the relay (ecu to ground) but I need to source another relay to test (I have re-soldered the current one in the past to eliminate it but obviously can't be certain it's not at fault).

As the starting problem is either gone or not causing problems for the time being I'm really focusing on the idle issue which is what irritates me the most. To describe it better it's like the car idles too low and drops and then bounces back up repeatedly. Sometimes it's nearly perfect, but not quite, other times it drops making the car shake, usually it is much worse when cold. One thing I did notice when I jumpered the radio suppression relay was that when starting the engine it held the idle higher than usual for a few seconds, this is as I would expect the car to act when cold starting. It NEVER does this when the relay is plugged in no matter how cold.

Anyway I will source a relay and see what happens.

Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead, but did you ever resolve this?
My 91 turbo 940 recently started doing this…

Cold starts when the ambient temp is above (at a guess) 18° and it cranks then coughs and misfires until it smooths out. My idle is also rough as a badgers *******
