"How much for the Volvo?"
It's that time of year again. The doorbell rings and as you walk to the front door, you see a battered transit pulled in across the road. You know what's coming next, but you open the door regardless.
"Is the Volvo for sale, mate?" "Nope." "How much do you want for it?" "More that you're willing to offer." "Are you sure?" "I'm fairly certain." "Does it run?" "Of course it does, it's a Volvo!" "It's got a flat tyre." "The refurbished alloys are being stored in the shed." "I'll give you two hundred quid for it." "I can get more than that just weighing in the cat for scrap." "You can take the cat off it, I want it for banger racing so I'll fit my own exhaust." You shake your head and close the door, knowing full well there'll be another one trying their luck before the week is out. Is this the curse that all owners of older Volvos have to face, if they decide to park it up for a while and run something a bit more fuel efficient and in a lower tax bracket? Does anyone have any recommendations for discouraging these people, preferably before they make it as far as the doorbell? |

I had a Citroen BX sat in my garden for 5+ years and no-one ever asked about it, it now resides in my garage and is currently being recommisioned,
There you are, a happy ending without being sold for scrap, flooded, or needlessly crashed by idiots-just because they can Don't even get me started on Paddy McGuiness, tho I think Chris Harris could do the show on his own, and Freddie Flintoff, wasn't he just a cricketer who brought a mobile chip van? |
