ZF4HP22 tail shaft bearing
Hi, the tail shaft on my 760 has play but doesn’t leak any oil.
I’m just wondering has anybody changed this before on here. Any information would be great. Thanks |

Crawl undernath Jim, grab the flanges where the propshaft meets the gearbox and try moving them up/down and left/right. Any play will be obvious.

Once the extension housing is out, remove the shaft seal followed by drifitng the bush out. Note that these bushes have a habit of turning in the housing so check the alignment of the oil holes in the housing and new bush before fitting. Fit the new seal then "Haynes it". Not a complete guide but it was about 6 years ago when i did it on mine and i've been asleep since!
