There’s additives in fuel that you fill up with, especially premium fuels.
Volvo can say no to fuel additives all they want, but the fuel plants add additives to the fuel anyway before its delivered to the fuel stations where you fill up. There’s no such thing as a petrol or diesel car that has no additives in. Even if people don’t add products like Redex… its in the fuel that you buy in some way or form.
