Not an XC60, but i have an S60 T8 (non polestar) so probably lighter in weight and aerodynamics without the huge alloys etc, a MY21 will have the older 87bhp motor and 11.xxkw battery pack, i get 23 miles at a push from mine.
I found it better to let the sat nav deal with it, when you join a main road it knows the route ahead and reduces the available power needle in hybrid mode so that the petrol engine starts and gets used more, then when you pull off on a junction it goes back up and lets you use more battery at slower speeds. If you are doing 60-65mph you will not get the full range, or anywhere near it, drops like a stone at those sorts of speeds and any form of hill, you end up pretty much requesting full battery power to maintain speeds uphill (not sure if you have hills like we do haha) |

The actual MPG for the T8 engines will vary alot depending on different circumstances.
Engine load, how much electricity is needed for other car functions (heating, A/C, etc), how cold it is outside etc. You need to be very careful if you want to get 20 miles on pure electric. Over a 50 mile commute, it's very hard to estimate what MPG to expect. I'd just take the MPG of a normal large SUV and accept that. If you get more MPG in the real world, be glad of it and treat yourself to a KFC with the money saved.

My Dad is religious about keeping his XC90 T8 charged, and in 2 years has averaged 52 MPG imp. Deduct from that the cost of the electricity and that probably equates to in the region of low 40's MPG imp cost equivalent.

My wife currently averages 37 mpg in her MY12 XC60 D5 Polestar. ( 2.4 litre, 5 cylinder diesel engine ) It has covered 110,000 miles so we are looking to update.
A number of dealers/ mechanics have warned us off the newer 2 litre, 4 cylinder diesel engine. Saying its no where near as good as our current engine and plagued with problems. The current colours here in Australia are terrible . None of which the wife really likes. One big hill to & from work, otherwise fairly flat. Aircon will be on a lot of the time. Not sure what to do . Might even switch brands . [ Jag, Audi, Kia, Hyundai ] Love our XC60 but in some ways current specs not quite what we are after. May end up with a MY21 demo . Who knows |

What exactly does "nowhere near as good" mean? Thats a bit vague.

2.4 litre 5 cylinder Vs 2 litre 4 cylinder. And according to a few mechanics I have spoken to spend more time in the workshop having problems fixed. Basically said I'd be very disappointed & be visiting them more often than not. My main Volvo mechanic is a Volvo man thru & thru |

Just my 2p but my last Volvo - S60 D4 190bhp which I think is pretty much the same as what you are talking about was given a pretty testing time over the 3+ years I had it and never suffered a single fault.

Unfortunately the wife drove a Jaguar F- Pace 3 litre diesel today . Pretty sure she's going to jump ship. Seats suited her far better . More comfortable . Just liked it better overall than any of the 3 new Volvo's we drove last weekend. Even to the extent that she will order a brand new Jag . 9 -10 months waiting list and nearly twice her budget. Have loved our time with our current XC60 D5. But time to move on . |
