Volvo V50 2009 D5 for sale
Hi Everyone,
I have my V50 D5 2009 for sale. 125466Miles on the clock I have had it for a couple of years but have been through the wringer with it. I am unfortunately now at a point where I have no more time or finances to get it going the way the car deserves. In the intrest of clarity I will note the issues I have had with it and oustanding work that needs done on the car as follows: We had a storm and drove through a puddle after having the clutch and DMF replaced 3 months prior. The airbox took in water and stopped the engine which caused the clutch and DMF to fail again. The independent Volvo Specialist I took it to for the original repair refused to replace it under warranty unless i paid for the the full job again. I went back and forth with them until they said to take it to Court and refused to take any responsibility for it. I then paid for another garage to fit a new Clutch and DMF again along with brand new tyres and an MOT (valid till 26 October 2021) The car was still running a little rough in the lower revs and was burning through diesel faster than normal. Upon investigation we found one of the injectors appeared to be stuck open (unsure if this was due to the puddle). So I bought a refurb from ebay with the view of replacing it and getting it recoded. I managed to get the old one out and the new one seated and as I was tightening up the last bolt holding the injector the head snapped off leaving the majority of the bolt stuck in the head. I have tried a bold extraction kit but it is not moving. All mechanics ive spoken to say its a machinists job to get the bolt out and the 2 shops that would be able to do it dont have any availability till August. The car has been great with plenty of trips and memories in it but we need something that is not going to be a project car. The whole inside and body work are in really good condition for its age. I have replaced a whole load of parts on the car including of front suspension arms, ball joints, timing belt etc in the 2 years I have owned it. If there is anyone interested in taking it off my hands give me a message. I really dont want it to be going to a scrap yard as I know theres still so much life left in it! More than willing to elaborate on the condition and negotiate a price. Thanks, |

What a lovey looking car with what must be one of the nicest exterior colours and interiors.
Very sadly I believe given it’s problems you will do much better breaking? If you can’t break it (physically or room) have you not thought or fitting a replacement engine? I don’t believe you are going to be remotely happy with the price you are likly to get if you cut your losses and sell it. That’s going to potentially be a really hard sell… |

Yep, I think breaking it or simply sticking it on ebay and see where it goes.
Cutting your losses may be the answer. Sad I know. |

Thanks eagle58 and XC90Mk1, I totally agree. It's been a great car and it's heartbreaking to see it in this condition but with the trauma of trying to find a mechanic to actually properly assess it and the money needed to properly restore the car, the solution doesn't seem to be within my capabilities.
I am ideally looking for someone who would be able to take it on as a project car I can't quite bear to see it broken for parts or taken to a scrap yard. Any other ideas or options would be gratefully received! |
