Update
Thanks again to all who have contributed. We attached the VIDA yesterday and I was ready to take out the fuse for the alarm horn - number 8 under the steering wheel by the way. Hit the open button first just to check, and it worked! It has also worked today for the school run.
As far as VIDA is concerned, there were a few messages, and I took a photo of the screen just for information. No warnings still current, but I shall send it to South Hants Volvo to see if they see anything there. But basically, good that it runs, but bad that we don't really know the reason! Cheers, Kevin |

Please let us know if South Hants find anything - this is suggestive of a bad connection which might be from moisture ingress or a broken wire.
I have a 2013 model which I consider to still be young, but the fact this has happened to you with same model but only a year older is a concern for me! |

2nd step would be to check the flex cables running to the front doors. The drivers door is always more problematic as it is used more often. of course, much easier to do if you have VIDA connected and can read and clear errors and try and reproduce the problem at the same time.

My first thoughts were CEM unit, though I don't know if your car has the water ingress issue. Mine had all kinds of weirdness and a repair to the CEM sorted it all out,. But it was obviously water damaged.

Response from South Hants Volvo
Just got off the phone having read out the faults list to them. While not excluding anything, he wasn't persuaded that it is the CEM, but as there are no current faults, didn't think it was worth bringing it in. Did suggest disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes next time to see if that clears anything. At least I know where the fuse for the horn is now!

Just to say that the comma faults were all yellow rather than red and looking at the time line for them had happened a month and a half ish earlier than this issue.
