Could it be an exhaust heat shield? one of mine corroded and dropped down onto the exhaust and made a heck of a noise.

I had a similar experience with my 2005 XC70 - at 180k miles and it was the wheel bearing.

I'm hoping it is the wheel bearing. The issue I have is that I live in France and don't have a reliable garage. The place that fitted my exhaust bracket were ok but insisted the problem wasn't a wheel bearing but was due to the tyres. I've now changed the tyres (but not with them) so would need to bring it back to them, find another garage or try to change the wheel bearing myself. There seem to be some good videos on youtube showing how to change the wheel bearing but I think this would be a challenging job for me. |

I've looked at new hubs and some come with magnetic sensor rings others say they come with abs sensors. I'm not sure which type I need and really don't want an ABS light showing on my dashboard. |
