Default V70 Boot Floor Handle

So, trying to lift the boot floor up to get the shopping bags I store under there out and the handle came off in my hand.
Granted there was some stuff in the boot which probably didn't help.

I wondered if anyones had to replace one of these before?

I'm presuming they can be bought separately from the boot cover??

Just bought this part from the dealer today (along with lots of other bits and bobs) and it comes with a black plastic bar which I assume needs to be fitted to the aperture in the carpeted floor prior to clicking the handle in. Its slightly too long for the longest part of the opening so is it intended to be cut to size or, cut in half and each piece fitted either side....or what ?
Not the end of the world but I'm certainly not going to be bodging it with glue and I'd like to tick another job off....

Nothing wrong with an expert bodge! Membership of the Noble Guild of Master Bodgers is a prized qualification for old car owners!

I've waited all day for a reply and this pops up !
I am not going to start gluing bits of my car together !

I'm discovering bodges (and correcting them) with alarming frequency with recent cars....and when I do, I have a very special word I use to describe the anonymous bodger !
Even if he was a Professor of Bodging from The Royal School of Bodgernomics !

These handles are a commonly failed part and are common across the range.
Does no-one here know how its meant to fit ????

The plastic 'U' section bar is too long to fit the aperture (but is the correct profile to fit the thickness of the floor)

Trimmed with a hacksaw to fit the long edge makes no difference.

Further trimmed to fit the short edge yields similarly disappointing results.

What are Volvo playing at with this ?
No instructions were included and I can find nothing on the 'net.

The black strip is orientated for one way (moves smoothly) and will flex around the boot lining.

Insert the handle into the hole and then slide the black strip through the holes. This takes some bending and manipulation, but the part is designed to do this.

Just make sure you insert from the side that's further away from the locking tabs so it pushes through both holes and into position before they engage.

If you're like me, it will take a practice run off the car to make sure it was orientated the right way and the tabs were the side to engage last.

Thanks for the response.
I figured it out/sorted/swore at it a while back.

Even the Techies and the Parts guy were stumped.

Do you still have the part number to hand to save me looking it up? I’ve got this handle missing on mine.

Ignore this - google found it
