T5 xc60
I'm thinking of buying a Japanese import XC60 with the T5 2 litre 4 cylinder petrol engine (2012-2015 model).
Does anyone have a link for a brochure/spec for this model? I'm trying to get as much information as possible before engaging with a dealer or importer. Thanks Charles |

Sounds like what you are after given those years will have the Ford Powershift transmission
Refer this recent thread where there are a couple of links to warnings about the transmission https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=313119 If you decide that you do feel lucky and go ahead and buy one let us know how you get on. I reckon the best used Japanese imports are either the T5 AWD from 2015/2016 with the 5 cylinder petrol engine (B5254T12) or the T6 AWD with the VEA engine (B4204T9). I've seen a few of these come up for sale in NZ (Not sure they sold either of those specs new in the UK. In NZ the only first generation XC60s sold new with the VEA engine were FWD versions) The Wikipedia page for Volvo XC60 gives a good breakdown on engine specs and years used

Thanks. Will investigate further
The UK government's love affair with diesel made petrol cars a pariah in the U.K. from about 2012 onwards until diesel fell from grace towards the end of the decade. The only indigenous petrol models are the T6 which comes with a painful £565 annual road tax bill. Hence the thought of an imported T5 petrol model. Perhaps the Powershift failings were exacerbated by the torque from Diesel engines? (I had a DMF fail at 50k on a Mondeo). I'll take a considered view but the import T5's from 2013/4 are FWD cars and maybe that helps the transmission a bit? I'd buy a manual if I could but they don't seem to exist here. This will be a replacement for my 2007 200k V70 2.4 petrol auto, which has been everything you'd hope for from a Volvo. Regular fluid changes have kept the AW 5 speed auto in reasonable form, so far, touch wood. |
