C70 2006 Window Switch
Hi everyone, first time post so hope someone out there can help?
My C70 encountered a flat battery whilst on various short trips a few weeks ago leading to a rare call out to the AA. They got me going again and told me I needed to take it for a run in order to get sufficient charge in the battery. It was an eventful journey with the car often cutting out for a split second and all warning lights displayed regularly. I limped home and was informed by the AA I needed a new battery. The battery is fitted but I’ve encountered problems with the window mechanism. My mechanic has informed me I need a new window switch. I’ve seen a few 2nd hand ones on eBay but none for my year. Does anyone know if a later model, say 2008 will work? What about an American left hand model as they have loads for sale? Regards |

Some of the functionality doesn’t work. Can wind down some windows but not raise them again from the driver door controls. Main problem is driver door window that drops upon opening doesn’t close automatically making securing the car a right faff .
When the electrical problem happened the driver door window would always wind down half way. Mechanic has improved it massively but a few niggles persist. |

Have you had a look at this thread?
https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=159949 I would be surprised if the switch itself is the problem causing the window not to close fully on locking, because that would be controlled by one of the computers, not input from a switch Last edited by PNM; Dec 20th, 2020 at 18:58. |

2006 c70
Hi Seperoth
I also own a 2006 C70, from what you describe I would say you have two different issues. I base this on personnel experiences that I have encountered, firstly, various warnings appearing in the dash display, warning lights & going into limp mode. All of this was cure by getting all the CEM contacts cleaned, I have not experienced any further issues since. (CEM is behind carpet under glove box). The issue I had with my windows, N/S & O/S, open door window drops, close door, window stays dropped, this was cured by cleaning the connector between the body & door, just behind the door stop. Then do a window reset, hopefully these two cures will sort things and save you money. Fred |

If you do replace the switch pack, then make sure the part numbers match. The design of the switch pack changed in 2008, and the early and late ones are not interchangeable.
From your symptoms it still sounds like the windows need calibrating. I had a similar problem after battery removal, and tried several times to calibrate them. It was only after disconnecting the battery for a second time, and then doing the re-calibration procedure shortly after the battery was reconnected that fixed it. |
