Default Crank pulley bearing noise?

Evening guys.... I’m working on my brothers 2009 1.8L Petrol S40. A few weeks after he got it he noticed a whining sound coming from the engine area, I had a look round and the noise was coming from the drive belt side of the engine. I’ve swapped out the top tension pulley & auxiliary belt but the noise is still there (it originally had the fixed pulley & stretch belt fitted). I took both belts back off and ran the engine for a few minutes with nothing connected and it sounds like the whining noise is coming from the crank pulley.

A quick read up on Google and there is mention of the PCV breather system, would that be fitted to the non turbo model? Any info or suggestions of the possible cause of the noise would be appreciated.
