Default Poor Radio Sound

The sound from the radio on my V70 (old shape)sounds a little muffled - particularly speech and bass sounds. Reception can also be patchy. I am sure its not my hearing as it is certainly not as clear and sharp as that on a V40 and VW Golf recently driven. Has anyone else experienced poor sound from a standard V70 set-up and managed to improve? Would perhaps having both side window aerials live help (I think only one is wired up at present).

Both side window arials should be wired up. I believe there is also a booster unit for them.

Hi...The radio reception I get on my V70 (1998) is not spectacular but acceptable bearing in mind the aerial is in the rear glass. If yours is "that" poor, perhaps check the aerial amplifier connections. This is located behind the trim panel in the load area.

As for the Bass issue goes, my understanding (and I mean understanding!) is that if you do not have the Pro-Logic sound setup in your car (I don't either) then, the fitted speakers are OK but not great on the bass. Cars that have the Pro-Logic setup, have high end Dynaudio speakers and these deal with bass a lot better than the standards! Perhaps someone else on the forum could confirm this????

Bob and Ian,

Thank's for the very helpful advice. Decent sound makes a big difference, especially on long journeys.

Cheers,

Ray
