Default RE: Performance Mod?

I had a brief look today out of curiosity and noticed that it wouldn't be possible to position the klaxons, tired of the word 'horns' and feelling semantically TIG :), under the front bumber on my 850 TDI 'cos there's a great big friggin' block of concrete inside the bumper housing: ostensibly I dare say to create maximum damage to a vehicle smashing into me and minimise the impact on my car!

Where else would one suggest placing them? How about on the wing mirrors. Now there's a thought!

Hi Karl,

the middle bonnet catch is only the final safety, the bonnet actually locks into the jaws at each end (which are mounted onto the metal headlight mounts). So removing the middle support SHOULDN'T allow the bonnet to come open even if you do go OTT with the Dremmel.

If you look to the front passenger fog light, to the rear of it there is a bracket. (very close to where the under guard is bolted). Most people put them there.

Dan,

Go for the folding door mirrors as well - at high speed fold them in and I imagine you'll get at least another 50mph ...

All the best

Nice to see someone else is not taken in by all this.

yeah mate - I'm with you ...

anyway I'm off to polish the inside of my tail pipe ... some guy down the pub reckons you can get an extra 300bhp ! (if it doesn't work at least it'll look nice ...) combined with folding door mirrors and moving the horns to the glovebox she should be good for Mach 2 at least ...

All the best

What I hope will be the final post in this - what does moving the horns do to the horn's SOUND?

After all, that's what they're there for - to warn other road users who can't see you round a corner or are temporarily incapable of using their rear view mirrors due to providing brain tissue for medical research.

If shoving them under the front bib makes the horns less audible, then I'd put them back pronto because if you have a prang your insurers will fold their chequebooks and silently steal away.
