Default Colouring Vinyl

Taking the opportunity to recommend a company called Technispray who supplied a product called Kolorbond to match my sample.

Original objective was to recolour some red 1800 headrests to match the '67 brown interior of my 220. Soon found that the whole interior despite being in fairly good condition was tainted by overspray from a poor flashover it received (and will need addressing).

Therefore I've ended up spraying the whole interior including additional material for new doorcard pockets, seat base side covers, and minor repairs etc.
The product appears to adhere well with consistent shade although I would recommend liberal use of their Vinylprep solution which is used to sticky up the surface. I did this twice due to the first application removing a fair amount of green overspray (with time between application), but beware flooding the surface lest it overly 'melt' the material.

The result looks good to me albeit a bit matt at present. A case of looking to see if it acquires a sheen in use.

nb Took the opportunity to address some frayed seams etc as part of the process by stitching back through original holes. Worth it with hindsight but a pain. Where on the rear back rest the cover zips had perished I can attest there are 800 stitches to replace...hours I won't get back!
Everything on this resto seems to take 4 times as long as planned!

best

Jim
