Default V60 D6 PHEVs out of warranty

Hi,

I am hearing plenty of tales, not just in the UK but across Europe of the inevitable failures of the D6 resulting in a tow to dealer and languishing for days as they typically do not know how to fix. Common thread seems to be the ISG, and also Air-Conditioning systems.

The one I sold (having only one "did-not-start/Volvo callout" during my ownership), I have had feedback has now been spending time in the dealers with ISG troubles after total breakdown.

My question is, how many people are suffering these problems and in particular are they full blown vehicle recovery issues and how much did they cost now a lot of these are out of their warranty period?

I ask because I still have fond memories of the car, being a bit of a gadget geek, despite the huge (unrivalled in my 40+ years of car ownership) depreciation cost I incurred, and thoughts often flit to running another as a second car .... but I would not like to think I am letting my wife run around in one knowing it will at some stage guarantee to totally break down.

Cheers ... John ... having a love:worry relationship with D6s but happily running around in fantastic old XC70 (note to self to update sig!)

I can't speak for Volvo hybrids, as I've had a BMW 225xe for 18 months.

It's been faultless for me so far, but there is a surprisingly large number of people on the BMW EV forums who are having charging problems / battery problems / powertrain issues etc with their 330e / 530e / 730e.

Maybe the 225 is having fewer problems because it's had the longest development of the BMW hybrids, or because it has completely separate electric and petrol drivetrains. But either way, right now, I would not buy a plug-in hybrid out of warranty.

Hi y V60 D6 is on it's second A/C unit ...... after 6 weeks of owning it , it had to be recovered (can not tow it) and after 10 months the A/C unit failed
Volvo Worcester took it in and repaired it without quibble and i am back on the road
