Reversing lights and parking sensors not working...
Hello,
I am a newbie to this forum and to Volvos in General! I bought a Volvo v50 2010 2ltr Petrol in December and to date it has been great. One thing I noticed tonight is that the reversing lights aren't working ! No warning lights on the dash. Then on thinking I realised the parking sensors haven't been working (I have never had these in my cars before so I never thought of it). I have done a bit of digging on this forum (Which is great and I have bookmarked already !) My conclusion is that it is likely the switch rather than the fuse etc as I am guessing the sensors are switched on by this as well? I have found this video tonight - [/YOUTUBE]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQgooEF1y0c but I haven't had a good look at this as I have only found the problem tonight. I have also tried to look to find the switch for the parking sensors but to no avail (apparently in the boot beside the rear lights) as I don't seem to have the menu option on the radio. I have limited knowledge and skills but I am willing to give simple maintenance etc a go... Thanks for your time and help in advance. Rus |

I would check the fuse first Have a look in your manual should be number 79 in the passenger foot well fuses. Maybe a different fuse on yours as mines a lot older.
Good luck you have now started on your long journey of lots and lots of volvo v50 electrical problems |

Hi thanks for your reply. Had a look in the day light today and the fuse had gone! Simple change this morning on fuse 79. Thanks again for your reply hopefully I won't be back on with more electric problems too soon !

I've changed the fuse 79 & the reversing lights/reversing sensor still do not work. I'm now guessing from the previous thread answer that the problem is now down to a broken switch. Any other thoughts folks?

If they are factory fitted parking sensors then the wiring for them will be in the boot where you said. The reversing switch will be on the transmission housing, usually under the air cleaner.
Could be just loose or a damaged wire, or faulty switch.
