Lightbulb Windshield Washer Fluid - Market Brands vs Volvo

XC90 MY18 with winter package - used Screwfix No Nonsense concentrate windshield washer fluid. Price £3.99 for 5 litres (company says makes upto 25 litres) but I think 15 to 20 litres is what you get. I mixed 50/50 for winter months and it was awesome.

#Pro
1. No smell - its neutral (personal choice - don't like those scented washers)
2. Doesn't leave film on the screen
3. No bugs/insects - great bug shifter. one pump leaves with a crystal clear screen
4. Doesn't freeze (personal experience on an old badger and XC90 and lot of reviews too)
5. Not heavy on pocket as summer months will probably give 25 litres

#Con
Don't know the Ph level hence don't know how harsh is it on the paint and headlights in the longer run.

#Dealer topped up 0/10
Recently got the first service from the dealer and I intentionally left washer fluid level low (knew going for service). They topped it up and to my shock I think they topped with only water as it doesn't clean the screen and doesn't clean the insects/bugs even if I try for 2 to 3 times in a row.

Do you use Volvos washer fluid or a market brand? Summer is hear so are the bugs - have your say.

Better than my dealer charging me GBP 5 to top up the bottle when it only needed maybe 100ml to be overflowing

the most important ingrediant of a washer bottle is the antifreeze, you must never let it freeze in Winter.
OK, that's 6 months away now

So any decent brand will do.
Avoid the cheapest crap as they may leave deposits which gum up the lines.

I remember in an autocar article BMW saying if you didn’t use their overpriced dealer supplied screen washer liquid then any issues with the system wasn’t covered under warranty inc in this case a pump failure.

I wonder if Volvo would argue the same.
