Volvo's UK sales rise 38% in April!

Hi All,

Just looked at the monthly data by SMMT, Volvo up 38%. More than 1 in 50 UK vehicles sold is a Volvo, think it might be Volvo's highest figure in over a decade!

Global sales up 13% in April.

Interesting but I expect it could have been even higher if they had been able to make more XC40’s which has we know are now sold out in the U.K. until 2019!
Are you able to drill down into the No’s to see the XC40 volumes?

Unfortunately I haven't got that data! But there is an article on this stating that Volvo UK might be limiting sales for fear of flooding the market and causing industry leading residual values to collapse:

There’s a connundrum - more cars to keep the punters happy but in doing so those exact punters lose more money in the med term as a direct result.

Keep it exclusive Volvo!!

I had a look on the Volvo investor site, in March they received 24,000 orders for the XC40 and shipped 6000 XC40s. Interestingly Volvo's best selling model globally is the XC60, shifting 15,000 units in March. I would have thought that they could increase supply of the XC40 to at least the same level of the xc60 without affect residuals.
