Default Volvo roof box options

Currently deciding between the new:
"Designed by Volvo roof box" 350 litres

Or the
"Space Design " 420 litres / 520 litres which is a few years old now

It's going to go on a V90 R Design - so looks is equally important to me as function. I don't use a roof box too regularly and don't carry a lot - so the largest capacity box will be more than I will ever carry

The "Designed by" seems the latest and greatest with LED lighting and a securing net.

Yet the older design has the flexibility of more load swallowing capability

Does anyone know how the two compare for wind noise / drag?

Has anyone used the "Designed by" box and is it adequate for modest load carrying needs, or is it a bit of an (expensive) white elephant?

Volvo are taking the brand up market the v90 is an expensive car, the new roof box will reflect this up market move.
Only you can decide if the cost is worth it but my take is sooner the proven technology that has stood the test of time than the untested state of the art newness.

I baught flat halfords aero roof bars for my xc70 as the Volvo ones made by thule have a bow in them, making carrying of sheet materials a ballache, OK for ply but try it with ally checker plate then try to get the bow out.

Volvo roofboxes were made by Thule, don't know about the new ones. The Thule boxes were always cheaper than the Thule Volvo boxes and I never saw a difference between them.

Paul.
