Default Clutch pedal issue

Hi,

I'm new to the forum. I have recently bought a 2008 C30, 1.6D.

Since buying the car, I have crunched the gears a couple of times, when driving normally, which seemed strange.
A couple of days ago on a very short journey, the gearstick was difficult to get into 1st to begin with, and difficult in general in other gears. I also noticed that the clutch pedal was lower than usual (and had less travel than usual).

I lifted the pedal to the normal position with my hand. Since then, the clutch pedal has been fine.
I checked the clutch fluid for the first time. It seemed to be at the min level, so I added a bit more. On the first day, the level dropped a very small amount, and since then it has remained the same (I've probably only driven around 35miles).

I heard that a leak of clutch fluid could be linked to a master or slave cylinder issue. If this is the case, does it tend to leak extremely slowly? Also, is it possible to see either cylinders under the bonnet, or are they hidden? There is no evidence of a leak in the engine bay, or on my driveway.

Hopefully my one off issue with the clutch pedal could be linked to something else (that is less pricey to fix)?

Thanks in advance,
JP

The peddle pushes a bar that operates the master cylinder, if you were able to pull the peddle up - then the return spring is not be doing it's job. You should not be able to pull it up. This little spring might be your problem. It could have just popped out. Fingers crossed.

It sounds like the clutch slave cylinder in the bell housing is failing they can get sticky . you might see dampness at the bottom of the bellhousing of the gearbox where it joins the engine there is a drain hole .
The helper spring presses the pedal up for the first half of the travel , then half way down it offers no assistance , over half way down it assists the pedal down .
