No, it pauses the install and then resumes it when you next turn on the ignition. Bit of a pain really.

...and I found that when you leave the car and come back to it, the update resumes from a few steps back...as in, leave the car at say 25% complete, and it resumes from like 20%.

Since then, I've been doing the map updates in one go without any interruptions. Last week it completed in 40 minutes in a car park, whilst my daughter was in her tennis class.

Does anyone know if it's OK to pop the USB into the socket and then just leave it - i.e. will it continue to install even when the system goes into standby? I'd like to know that if I leave it, it will have completed by the time I next come to drive the car, rather than resume installing and thus leave me with no navigation for the duration...

For info, anyone with an interest in the inclusion of major new UK roads will be disappointed that the new Queensferry Crossing (M90) bridge over the Firth of Forth doesn't feature as a navigable route. It's there if you zoom in enough, but it's not set as a driveable road. I guess they took the data from Here.com just too soon before it opened to traffic.

Hopefully it won't be too long before the next update.
No it stops. But it does resume again once Sensus restarts. I've been in the same position as you, wanting the update to complete before I next use the car and want navigation. Previously I've popped the car on a trickle charge and just keep opening the door every now and then to wake it up again.

Not sure if the trickle charge is needed, probably not.

As others have said, it pauses and often appears to start a few steps back when it re-starts

I have done previous updated over a number of short drives, and it has always been ok before. Though this time it caused me a serious headache - see post #17 in this thread

The Regional maps have now been updated to Version 1190.
Handy, if you just want to update North West Europe, or your own Region
