How are the import taxes in the UK?

The T6 is 400+ hp, so you could buy it somewhere else if taxes wouldn't add a lot to the price.

Probably quite a lot more money. There maybe problems getting a RHD model too.

Well they took my money with a smile !
This will be my third XC60, started with a 2010 AWD D5 manual and endured two years of software related faults, then replaced that in 2014 with a D4 AWD which has been excellent. Also looked at Lexus but found dealers a little over powering and the new Mazda CX5 which was very good with all the gadgets including head up, but seats not good enough.
Enough of the history lesson, arrived at dealers to find it totally revamped and manned by very helpful staff, but salesman tied up with another buyer, so this gave us a chance to closely look over the Rdesign sat in showroom, This had a spare wheel and it does fit in the boot I assume with the battery. A young trainee then brought the inscription pro to the front and we had a good look over this, trying out the seats etc.
We then discussed my trade in and was offered what was quite a good deal, matching the selling privately price found on websites.
The test drive went back over the road we had taken from Basingstoke and had noted how it jarred in my D4, but the new suspension took all this out, engine was also very quiet in comparison with the 5 cylinder. Test car was a D4 and performance similar to my manual, but did not push it too hard as we were the first to drive it from new and someone else will have to buy it.
Basically the whole car seemed to me to be up at least a level from the old model in all areas. Tested the massage seats as my wife suffers from a bad back and for here these were a revelation.
The the test car was in the colour we wanted Osmium Grey, with metal inlay, so that's what we went for, adding 360 degree camera, with safety packs, tints , spare wheel, cd player, and the worlds most expensive tow bar.
Would have gone for the inscription only if it had those seats, and still not happy to go with 20" bling wheels. Engine wise we have gone for the D4 as we do 15000 miles a year and I regularly tow an ivor williams trailer with one or two trials motorcycles on board.
Some may note that after my experience with my first XC60, said I would not by a new model for at least a year, but time flies by and we get no younger, so have bought what at my age will be my last big volvo while we are fit enough to enjoy it. On the financial side mine will need in the next year 4 tyres, rear discs and pads and some form of warranty, add to this what could be a much lower resale at 4 years and 60000 miles.
So we did the deal and await delivery in September, which I did not believe as have waited 6 months for the other two, but was shown all those they have pre ordered and factory confirmation on one that it would be earlier !

Pleased with the deal and car, but as a caution to all those waiting for a manual box, three dealers have said auto only and volvo direct confirmed that it was not being considered in the near future.

Will keep you informed how things go

Ps
It was not us at Yatley we did not venture that far on the test run !

I've just ordered a Inscription with air suspension and 19" wheels, like you I would have ordered the pro but I just didn't want the 20" wheels, in truth I would have preferred the 18" plain alloys rather than the diamond cut.

I forgot about that small detail that you guys drive on the other side of the road!

It's the same as me. I don't feel the need to have bigger flashier rimms. The performance is worse, the fuel consumption is higher, the ride comfort is compromised... It's better looking, I'll give you that, but 18" feels enough to me.

No - more like £10 to 12k like for like spec.

Its also the least appealing of the alternatives.

Quite right it wouldn't, I only mentioned trade plates because the demo I had was on trade plates, I was quite surprised by that to be honest.

Autocar have just published a review of a D4 R-Design.
https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-review/volvo/xc60
Strangely it only gets 3.5 / 5 stars and is bottom of the 5 contenders (you only get to see this in the printed copy).
I wonder if VUK offered them the wrongly specification / optioned car. Other early reviews have been more complimentary. Or is it just that Autocar have a bias towards the Q5 ?
