Why bother? Its just as easy to wipe the screen whether a 'protector' is fitted or not. I have a microfibre cloth in the console box and wipe as necessary, which is about once or twice a week. Have yet to need using wet screen wipes that I have for occasional cleaning of cameras and tablet computers. No doubt there will be a need to use this one day.

I agree, you really only notice fingerprints when the screen is off. I'm wondering why - as it isn't a touchscreen as such, why Volvo couldn't have found some other material that just wouldn't get marked so easily. May be transparent aluminium? (I don't think that really exists, though Scotty invented in in Star Trek IV ..)

In practise they could have used a non-reflective surface, but that would compromise colours and contrast and would draw criticism for that I'm sure.

There are non-reflective screen covers available. I certainly had a very good one on my iPhone 4s. I've still got one spare and its called 'HD anti-glare film set' from company called Power Support which doesn't seem to exist any longer.

It was by far the best film I've used and the colours and brightness were only marginally effected. Fingerprints were just not a problem with that film. Nor reflections.

Here's something similar I've found and the laptop films can obviously be cut down to the size of the Sensus screen quite easily.

Fairly confident that these would fit if trimmed down slightly.

Fingerprints are indeed mostly visible when the screen is off. I intend to switch off the screen when I won't need
it for a longer while and I hate to see all the smudges. There be a name for this disorder

Forgot the word "must"...
How about scratch resistance of the screen?

It's on its way

Delivery expected Mon/Tues and I'll be collecting on Thursday.... very excited. And I even get a refund from my insurer!

Does anyone have some notes/checklist on things to check on handover?

I have had mine for 3 months and it seems to be scratch resistant screen. You can get a screen protector of the Internet but I haven't bothered. As regards fingerprints as has been said you only really see them when the screen is off which is not very often when I am in it. I have a microfiber cloth in the door pocket and just switch the screen off and wipe them away. They don't linger with a couple of rubs.

There was a microfiber cloth included in the delivery of the car.
I did buy a protector before delivery, but I will give it a try without.

At some point last year (I think it was with the introduction of MY17 around about May) Volvo changed the screen to a more scratch resistant one and stopped supplying a screen protector as standard.

I have the newer screen but still fitted a non-reflective screen protector which in addition to ensuring no screen scratches also minimises reflections and fingerprints. I only have to wipe the screen every month or two as a result. There is a slight reduction in contrast but for me the benefits outweigh this.

Mine's due in Monday too, so collecting on Tuesday (all being well)!

I'll be taking 'the checklist' too - thanks for the input.

I have a small concern that the Volvo On Call app will have a problem, as per recent reports on other thread but will hope for the best. Should I call the day before and ask dealer to check it works or wait to get there? I do have a 130 mile drive to dealer (car bought via Carwow) so needs to be right.

I have a quote from Volvo insurance already but will take their 7 day free cover and probably go with them thereafter. With a T8, it's difficult to get an automated quote on the comparison sites as there's only options for 'petrol' or 'diesel' for fuel; no 'hybrid' option. Volvo Cars Insurance are quoting me a compulsory excess of £650 + £150 voluntary, so £800 excess, which worries me in case of parking dings, etc. I guess I just have to get it estimated and repaired and pay-up if it's less than a grand......Anyone recommend 'scratch-and-dent' (S&D) insurance or is it just another money-maker? I certainly don't anticipate problems and have never had to claim for minor repairs but then I've usually had an excess of £100 - £250. No doubt I can pay more to reduce the excess and see if this costs more than S&D cover, or just accept it as an extra risk.

Anyway, exciting times!

Cheers, Andy
