Default 2005 V50 2.0d Stuttering .... MAF sensor??

I've just fixed one fault related to a remap, but thats another story, only to have a new one to solve!!!

Car is 2005 2.0d V50 ... full Volvo SH

In last 10 days its started to stutter very noticeably while driving. It starts fine, and doesnt cut out.

First noticed this driving on light throttle in 3rd at about 2300rpm it would start stuttering. If I put my foot down and accelerated it would accelerate smoothy without stuttering. Seems to be OK under significant load but may be getting worse.

Also same symptoms in 2nd at 3000rpm.

Recently I have changed a few things in search of a boost fault (all detailed here http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=237496 ) but this new stutter has not coincided closely with any of those changes.

The only sensor I didn't change for new in the air stream was the MAF as I thought it was OK upon inspection, so I just cleaned it with MAF cleaner.

Only other thing I've done recently was to add 250ml Redex Fuel injection cleaner with last tank of diesel.

Its also just started to get colder here (around 0*C)

I'm wondering if this could be the Redex in my fuel or maybe I've had a slowly dying MAF all this time??

The MAF is 10 years old and maybe should be renewed anyway??

Default Sounds like MAF

indeed, Im having similar symptoms, though worse. I put it on the computer and the MAF reading is bouncing all over the shop and then goes into limp mode

cleaning MAF can contaminate sensor ..same as replacing air filter without cleaning out airbox properly
have you checked egr valve ..ie taken blank away

Think I'll get a new MAF anyway as its 10 years old and it can sit pretty with other new sensors. No point in having an old link in the chain.

What car are you having this problem on? How old is the car?

Is it starting OK and stuttering during driving??

I'm having the same issues. What was the cause of that?
