Default Valve Cover Gasket for V40

Am I to understand correctly there isn't a valve cover gasket part for the V40 (2000) but rather a sealant? If so, recommended brand?

I used;

ABRO RED RTV Sillicone Gasket Maker Hi-Temp

I can't remember the method, but I do know I read the instructions thoroughly and followed them meticulously. A year on, still good.

Default Valve Cover Gasket Sealant

Thank you CANIS for the photo upload effort and suggesting the use of ABRO RED RTV Sillicone Gasket Maker Hi-Temp for a valve cover gasket.

I am curious if anyone has used this as I've seen comments that silicone doesn't provide a secure enough seal.

I called my local Volvo dealer parts department and they said an "anaerobic sealant" was what they sold ($65). Here is one I found:

I was dubious at first, as I'd heard silicon does nasty things to modern engines. If I remember right, it was something to do with the catalytic converter, the silicon oozes it's way there somehow. Or so I read.

There is genuine Volvo stuff available, but it's quite pricey and that's why I chose this as a cheaper option.

Yes it is a loctite product and more than a sealant . It bonds the cover to the head, and the sump to the block , it goes hard , it all helps with rigidity .
It isnt something you want to do twice when you use the incorrect stuff .

40$ for a valve cover sealant? Silicone doesn't sound that bad now.
