RTI / DVD problems
Hi. I have now read all the threads regarding RTI and DVD upgrade problems. I have many of the same problems as others here have but have not found any spesific conclusion to what is wrong. I had an old DVD (2003) version without Norway so I decided to buy a new one. I bought the week 35 2006 version including the cleaning disc. after cleaning the system I inserted the first disc but DVD player said the disc could not be read . I have been informed that the software update should be on the first disc but no joy. After trying all the DVD's several times I gave up and inserted my old DVD. The problem now is that the DVD player does not recognise my old DVD eighter The DVD screen stays up all the time but I dont want to pull the fuse. Is my DVD player busted now or are there any one that have manage to sort out the problem without buying a new DVD player? Thanks, Lars

I had a similar problem when upgrading my RTI on my 2003 XC70 just before Xmas. Everyone, including the dealer, assumed all you have to do was insert the DVD that came in the DVD case (in the same package as the cleaning disc) and it would self-install. Not so. There is a seperate dealer upgrade required using discs that the customer does not see. This is all made slightly more complex by a mistake on the volvo parts database.
My local independent dealer worked all this out for me and now all is well. You have to use your intuition to get the RDS traffic info function working because there are no instructions but it does work quite well, showing congestion in red and offering to find a way around. Hope that helps. |
