Many thanks - I'll bear that in mind! Hopefully the UV dye will show up any such issues!

cheers

James

Let us know how you get on with the die and UV light please. It may be the type of thing that's worth keeping on the shelf for these occasions.

Paul.

The air conditioning gas also has UV dye in it, so if you've had the air con serviced and they've spilt just a little of the gas........the engine bay is going to be glowing in the dark!

I just realised I never updated this thread.

The radiator was leaking from an end-tank joint, so I've ordered a new Nissens unit. £82 delivered...bargain! It's common to a load of Fords (and pretty much all P3s), interestingly. The Nissens PN is 65615A. I'm just waiting for it to turn up, and then my top-up days ought to be over! Interestingly, the rate of coolant consumption has varied significantly. Last week, it needed a (400ml) top-up after about 200 miles, but it has since done 600 or so without it dropping enough to bring up the warning. Nonetheless, I'm not going to push my luck any further!

With hindsight, even regular coolant would have been visible, but the UV dye definitely helped. Interestingly, there's still nothing visible from the top, but it's pretty obvious once you get underneath it.

cheers

James
