Default Lightbulbs - Osram vs Philips

I've used osram night breakers for a while now, I've based my choice on the fact that in tests there isn't much in it and they are cheaper than the Philips x-treme. I've gone throgh a few pairs of these now and now one headlight had gone today I'm sure I will be onto my 3rd set in my v70 in just over a year.

Im wondering if it's false economy, will the Philips last longer?
Anyone with direct experience of them both?

I use the Philips Extreme Vision in my Landrover, Clio, Renault Master and MX5 and I used to use them in my V70.

I don't recall ever having to replace a bulb due to failure.

OTOH I've given up on the Osram nightbotherers as my experience exactly matches yours, OP.

The last time headlamp bulbs were tested in Which?, Bosch Pure Light was rated almost as well as Osram Nightbreakers, so I've tended to buy the Bosch ones recently. Last time I needed a new bulb, however, I found that Bosch are now doing a long-life version with a beefed-up filament, which is obviously relevant if your headlamps double as DRLs. I've fitted one to my Toyota (not because it has DRLs, but because the bulbs are such a swine to change, and I don't want to be doing it again any time soon!!) and it seems a bit brighter than the standard Bosch on the other side that I fitted back in the summer.

Philips for me.

Night breakers were just too tempremental.
Philips seem to last better, especially I'm the 850TDi that shakes a bit and ate Osrams at an alarming rate!

Ordered the Philips extrem vision plus.
Looking in the handbook i notice bulb spec for extra main beam? Do all cars have this as standard? Or is it just for cars with xenon lights?
