Steel wheels with Continental winter tyres
Hi All,
I used these last winter on my P2 V70 (since sold). I hoped to use them again on the 850 I have now but the tyres are a little wide and rub the arch liners on full lock so I'm on the hunt for a narrower set for that car. 4x genuine Volvo steel wheels, 5x 108 PCD, 7J width, ET49 Fitted with very good (approx 6 - 7mm tread) Continental Winter Contact TS830P M&S tyres. Size 215/55/16 97V extra load rated. All balanced and ready to bolt on, tuck your alloys away in the shed for bad weather! Superb grip in low temperature winter conditions, if you've never used winter tyres you would be amazed at the stopping distance reduction and steering response. Pics below. £300 the set collected from me in Cheshire. Please drop me a line via PM with any questions, or reply here with an email address if you can't PM Pic fitted to my old V70 |

Shouldn't be that they're too wide as some ph1 cars came with 225 rubber.
Best thing to do is fit fatter lock stops to stop the rubbing, or get spacers to sit the wheels out where they should be, which will keep your turning circle. The difference is the offset on the wheels between ph1 and ph2 cars, I've found exactly the same whilst using ph2 alloys on my old C70 in winter.

Hi, thanks for the reply - very interesting re: the offset. These wheels are ET49, what's the correct offset for an 850 and how thick a spacer would be required to adjust to suit?
