Default 940 hub covers?

I noticed recently when changing a rear wheel on my '96 940 that the conical cover in the centre of the hub is missing.
Just wonder what purpose this cover serves.Does it stop dirt and grit getting into the wheel bearing?
Has anybody got a spare one?
Thanks.

They don't have them on the rear hubs.

Unless it's independent suspension, but I think that would make it a 960?

Thanks for clearing that up.
Yes, the rear ones only are missing, and no, it's not a 960.
Many thanks.
