2005 volvo v70 fumes from dipstick tube-ptc valve?
Thanks for the info Clan,no i will only do journeys of over an hour about 3 times a month, otherwise it's just poping around,so are you saying with the type of driving i am doing the fumes are nothing to worry about and won't blow any oil seals as that is my main concern.

2005 volvo v70 fumes from dipstick tube-ptc valve?
I disconnected the breather pipe that goes from the oil separator/flame trap to the air intake pipe at the turbo end and started the engine and it seems to be breathing ok with just very light fumes or vapour coming out of the pipe, the pipe just fits to a connection to the plastic air intake without any electrical connections, but does have an approx 10mm diameter metal water pipe which curls around the breather pipe [i am presuming to heat it,so doing away with the ptc valve which is fitted to pre facelift models, unless they have fitted it somewhere else on mine.I suppose at least i know that the crankcase ventilation is working as it should, but the glove test still blowing at 1500rpm is contrary to what the guys in the know on the forum are saying.I will keep the oil level to no more than 3/4 full to be on the safe side, and if i get any oil leaks i will update, thanks for all your helpful comments, cheers.
