RE: 850 (Poss only AWD) Recall
Autodata usually have a list of recalls on their site. If you type car recalls into a search engine you will find that there is a huge list of recalls for all makes. Clever these car manufacturers. Been designing them and making them for over 100 years. They have the resources and information gained from the space shuttle etc.etc. Yet despite this they are still unable to produce a car that will be faultless. Imagine if other things in our lives broke , stopped working etc the same way. TV sets seem to last forever now, The doorhandle on my house complete with lock has worked faultlessly for over 20 years. My boiler is also 20 years old and still works. Switches on the lights keep working and I have known fridges last for 25 years until they fell to bits externally.(unlike my aircon which in principle is the same but lasted 4 years) Ah well things are a lot,lot better than they used to be but.................... Cheers Nigel

RE: 850 (Poss only AWD) Recall
Be fair to car manufacturers - your domestic items are not exposed to wind and rain, bounced around on rough road surfaces, stressed by high G forces, covered with abrasive dust and corrosive salt at regular intervals and occasionally hit with very large metal objects travelling at high speed.
They also very rarely contain thousands of moving parts, very low and very high temperature items closely packed together, highly inflammable fluids, corrosives, very high voltages .... shall I go on? It's just like the computer analogy - we expect a PC to do everything all at once, then complain it's not as reliable as a toaster that has to do one thing only. This is not intended as an excuse, simply an explanation - and let's face it, cars are immeasurably better than they were, it's just that our expectations continue to increase. |

Agreed, but just a quick tip to keep aircon servicing costs down, hopefully you haven't heard this one before. Once a week, even in winter, put the aircon on full cold for ten minutes and then full hot for ten minutes. The cold is to run the compressor to circulate fluid and keep the seals and the compressor properly lubricated and then hot to dry off the matrix to stop mold and fungus eugh! growing on it.

RE: 850 (Poss only AWD) Recall
Yes Ive heard that one about the aircon but in two recent cases I know about its the hoses that ''burst/leaked'' Back to you Simon. Things are much better than they were but it is often some change to a part to make it cheaper(or more profitable depanding upon your point of view) Jaguar solved their quality control problems some time ago by insisting that the supplier of the component paid ALL the costs involved if it went wrong. Expensive if it was a washer inside a gearbox!!!! Ive had new components fail on cars causing immesurable distress, personal costs and time wasting on holiday with no compensation other than the car being fixed. Now if car manufacturers were holiday companies wouldn't we have a field day!!!! (within the first year or so of running to be fair!!!!) Cheers Nigel

older V70 AWD's have a new recall for rear suspenion, but not 100% if it applies to 850's.
