Injector cleaners in 850 ?
Hi, I was just wondering whether it is safe to use fuel injector cleaners (the kind you put in the fuel tank) in 850's ?
If so, what make is the best, I have used Redex in the past on other cars and it made a difference to them. Si 850 GLT |

RE: Injector cleaners in 850 ?
Hi Si,
I have used redex for ever since i started driving. On our 850's use the Fuel injector version and if you can afford it, buy the 1 litre bottle and add it at every couple of full tanks. If you don't drive a lot, it will last you ages but i do so it lasts about 3 to 4 months. Also if i am going to fill up after a full tank in one day, do a double dose to ensure a good clean out on the motorway with along run. Of course there are other brands like stp etc, and volvo used to clean the injectors as part of the service, i don't know if this is still done though. The otherthing to note they should be CAT friendly which REDEX is. hope this helps, mark with 174k on my 850glt.

RE: Injector cleaners in 850 ?
The first question to ask is why? I'm sure that Redex is unlikely to do any harm, but why spend the money if you don't have a problem?
I put Redex into a 1970s Fiesta that was having post-ignition problems, but if t your 850 isn't showing any loss of power then I'd keep your cash in your pocket. And if it is, it's unlikely to be dirty injectors.... |

RE: Injector cleaners in 850 ?
I think the reason why is that fuel isn't as clean as we would like it to be, and as your car does more miles the spray pattern from the injector starts to get messed up with deposits from the fuel. Injector cleaner might not be as good as removing the injectors and having them ultrasonically cleaned but it is better than nothing. This is even more important if you use cheap fuel!!!

Well, I gave Redex ago and have done 400 miles since yesterday morning, if anything I would say that the engine is slightly more responsive.
