Inside the thing it looks dark green because the thing is black
Off the stick it is clear with some sandy in it

Thanks for the replies. It seems all is well after all. Not knowing how green green should be, I was a bit alarmed when it appeared sandy brown. Given the condition of the car and the meticulous servicing, I expected it to be correct, but of course one never knows without checking it out.
