Default Passenger heated seat

Hi

I have noticed the last couple of days the passenger heated seat does not work when I start the car and for a while after (keeps turning off) after 5-10 minutes driving then starts working as it should

The drivers side works just fine

I this normal, like some sort of energy saving.. Until the car battery is fully charged?

Or a visit to the dealer is needed..

Any one experienced the same?

Thanks

Depending on the age of your xc90 and what updates its already had there is some a software update flying about that is ment to improve things,

The heated seat will only work if weight sensor in seat sensors somebody sat in it

I have notice the issue when I was dropping my daughter to school ( her weight half an adult), the heater kept switching off, after I dropped her ( empty seat) I noticed it stayed on hence I was wondering if it is to do with the car being cold. Since I tried to switch it on and it stays for only few seconds

Volvo for ever, do you mean if the sensor senses not weight then it will switch off after three minutes?

The car is only 3 weeks old and I understand it have the latest SW,

Thanks

I have this issue too. It seems to be when you start the car only so I wondered whether it was a battery related issue?

At the dealer now as it happens. Appears this is a known issue related to the last software update. No solution currently....

I spoke with the dealer the other day and was told it should not be doing what it is doing now!!
They suggested booking the car in to have a look at it.. I might wait till the three month check up then, no SW update and not very much needed now (not that cold) to save a journey to the dealership..

Default Passenger Heated Seat operation

Mine was doing this as well. ((First reg May 2016) Depending on what week it was built may be a software fix. Mine went in for update (2nd time after previous spurious low battery warnings) since then issue seems resolved and was notes saying software upgrade would resolve.

Trouble is software update takes about an hour.... and dealer dare not try on a Saturday morning as the systems may go down midway through for maintenance which can kill the car without a technician at the other end to help recover it.....

Kinda good and bad customer service - dealer tries really hard, but clearly infrastructure they use leaves lot to be desired.

Hopefully a software upgrade will fix yours too.....

battery critical message on dim --make sure on the latest sw also very important battery must be checked by vida 2015 there are a lot out there that are faulty changed a few for this dont know if bad batch ??

heated seat my understanding it must see some kind of weight if not it will shut down after 3 mins again there was sw for this ,also mod for weight sensor under passenger seat ....

few teething problems but all in a very good car ,wee bit complicated though lots of technology on this car

regards ..

Th dealer has concluded something is wrong with the weight sensor so have ordered a new one. Will see if that makes a difference...
