Volvo 142 Project
At the end of last year I purchased a 142 project with the intention of building a historic rally car. However, the opportunity to build my own house has presented itself and I would like to move the 142 on.
The bare bodyshell (and I mean bare!) is rust free and could be prepped for paint in a few days, it is really very good. The car appears to have been a lightly used competition car all it's life, but not in the uk - it has never been registered here and it seems to have been brought in to the country as a spares car. However, I have the chassis number and an email from Volvo confirming the 1968 build date so NOVA registration and a V5 won't be a problem. The car has been left hand drive but it has an 'ambidextrous' bulkhead so conversion will be painless. However, I also have a pair of NOS front doors, a pair of NOS front wings, complete 144 donor car less engine and gearbox (later 3 piece black grille sadly), a B20 engine with twin carbs and gearbox, a spare rear axle, early dash in the donor car and an early R-sport rallye cluster (3 gauges missing) to suit. It has fixed rear windows, but Triple-S on this forum might be able to sort you out with a pair of opening windows. The 142 interior is missing - the headlining is there and the 144 carpets can be made to fit but I have no seats, doorcards or rear quarter trims. This could be used to build a rally car, fast road car, track car, or with an interior it could be a road car again The car is in Dumfries, SW Scotland. I am quite happy to strip the 144 to get the 142 rolling and pile everything inside so that you only need to trailer one car away. I will get some pictures posted in the next few days but it would be best to come and view. Sensible offers are invited for the whole project, and I will advertise it as such here for a week or two, but after that I may break. Thanks, Bob 07717163232 |

Hi Dan
The engine is sitting in a rotten Amazon at the moment. I have no idea of the mileage or any history, but it turns and has a healthy general 'oiliness' about it (carbs too) so it all looks good. The engine certainly wasn't the reason the car was taken out of use, anyway. I'll need to strip the Amazon this week and will try to get the engine running before I lift it out, and I'll post my progress here. Bob |
