Default S40 which engine?

I am looking to a buy a S40 or V40, it must have leather interior, but am unsure of which engine to go for.

I don't want a 1.6 so was looking at either a 1.8 or a 2.0, but I've seen a 2.0 turbo.

What are the good points and bad points of each engine and what is the general opinion of the GDI engine?

Any help would be appreciated.

On paper I'd probably go for the 2.0t - fuel economy looks about the same as the 2.0i and 1.8 and obviously it'll have a more go but I haven't driven any of them so can't comment about real life performance!

I'd go for the turbo too, but if not I'd definitely go for the 2.0 over the 1.8 because its better suited to that size of car and doesn't seem to be any thirstier.
I had an S40 1.8 courtesy car for a few days and the fuel consumption was no better than my T4!

Go on, get the turbo, you know you want to lol

The 1.8 (NOT THE GDI) can be fairly economical, I get at least 350 - 400 per tank and have seen as high as 485 (only once I'll admit) - trouble is it likes the revs

from reading through the forum I have ruled out the 1.8 GDI, are there any common problems to look out for on these engines especially the turbo engine?

is there much difference in MPG between the 2.0 and the turbo?

sorry for all the questions!

Even sillier than usual fuel consumption means the ECU temp sender has given up, either that or the thermostat - cheap an easy to fix. Unfortunately I know nothing about the turbo engines.
