Default 03 V70 2.4 Petrol - Common leak? (pics)

Hi All,

Just got a volvo, what a comfy car!

Small leak coming from the top right of the rocker cover, I think?

Before I get my mechanic onto it or I check it out -

Is this a common leak?
Is it the rocker cover?
What is the black plastic part - the leak appears to be coming from the bottom of this?
Is it some kind of sensor?

Thanks,

Busy forum!

Steve

Ok I think the black plastic part is the camshaft position sensor housing, does this leak often? O-seal gone?

Default oil leak

Just had a look at the remains of an engine in the garage and I think the camshaft runs in a plain bearing and outside that is an oil seal which is supposed to keep the oil in.The plastic cover is the sensor housing but it is not supposed to be the oil seal .Looks like the oil seal has failed ,not a big deal and very easy to get at and replace .

Does that require taking the rocker cover off?
