Cluster / trip computer info
Hai folks,
My speedometer on my 03 S40 had been flakey and after a year or two I've swapped in another unit and this one does not have the trip computer enabled. Vida looks like I can't enable it, dealer only ~$230 US I think. Any hacks for copying old cluster info to new cluster or am I just stuck hunting another unit if I really want the trip info.

The cluster I believe has to come from a car that's got the info centre and it automatically works, some base models didn't have the info centre so the clusters from those won't work. That's my understanding

Yes, it is normally a Volvo programming job. It is possible to do component reprogramming if you have the right tools, check with companies that offer DIM repair services. They would have to copy the chips on your old board and transfer the data. That way you could also get your mileage reset, etc. Be cheaper to find another unit though, with any luck you can find one with similar miles on it
