Default 940/740 Lowering/coilovers?

The search function, nor Google, provides anything definitive or any guides on installing coilovers on a 940/740, can anyone help? It all seems so complex: cutting, welding, different rear ends, shock lengths and all sorts.

I've done lots of reading, but I'm struggling to understand a few things:

How is the shock absorber insert held into the housing? And how does one know how short a shock needs to be compared to the length of the housing?

How is the rear end lowered with a solid axle/ non IRS? I think I understand it's just replacement shorter shocks, and a shorter stiffer spring with an adjustable spring seat.

A link to any guides would be great, or an explanation of how to get very low with a 940 would be greatly appreciated.

I've found this kit, it states welding is required. Anyone have any experience with it, or able to tell me what I would need to do to make it work? It looks like only the front would need fettling with.

I've run a lot of very low cars in the past, but am yet to see a front setup anything like this one.

It's held within the strut with a gland nut on top. You'll have to take one out to measure it exactly, but the standard damper is about 42cm long.

Exactly that.

My advice would be don't. Very low is for looks only. But if you do, lookup RetroTurbo, ClassicSwede, or Kaplhenke.
