It is fraud and nothing else. Just because they apologised, means absolutely nothing. They only did so when they were caught and their scam was found out.

With the same logic, a thief or robber can do his daily business and when he gets caught, he can apologise for his actions and walk free??? I don't think so. Customers and governments have been mislead (blatantly lied) and the people responsible for this should face jail.

The Spanish government has given millions in subsidies to Seat for the so called "cleaner" VW diesel engines and now they are demanding their money back. Rightly so if you ask me.
Jail-time; never going to happen (they were unable in court to prove smoking kills let alone getting VAG on corporate manslaughter through emission. Hell, we can't even agree on global warming.).

EU governments wanting their grants repaid; the very least they can do but that won't happen either. There's no reason SEAT cars can't be made in India or Russia (Hyundai's are) so if they want the jobs they just have to suck-it-up.

But two things have intrigues me this week i) Cameron's PR have focussed everyone's attention on the deniability of #pig-gate so no-one's talking about the real issue - his knowledge of tax evading donors; and, ii) how VAGs PR has got the focus off them onto the industry (everyone's doing it) and the governments (and everyone both knew and was willing to accept it).

In the thick of it; indeed.

GM still sells millions of cars, despite the "ignition barrel issue" with many death tolls. Toyota are selling millions of cars despite the "lethal throttle pedal" with death tolls. VW has "only" broken emission laws. "Only".

So techniacally, nothing to worry about, as most people give a poo about the planet we are one, or why else would someone buy a diesel in the first place?
Please, please, please; let's not forget Ford's Explorer controversy.
