Wish I would have read this forum first... I watched a youtube video (Ericthecarguy) and he did not mention warming up the engine first so I did not do this.
With the engine cold and no oil squirted into the cylinders (Eric suggests a dry and a wet test) my T5 had the following numbers for the dry test/no oil squirt into the cylinders with the engine cold: 160 152 156 155 150 180 psi was mentioned in a prior post as ideal with the engine warm. Can anyone suggest how much I might expect my numbers to increase if the engine was warm? This car has over 300,000 miles on it. Overall it is sound. I am trying to decide if I should spend money on it to do a complete timing belt kit and tune up - I figured a compression test was a good place to start. Hi V70R4me
I am in the same boat as you (I also did the last test when cold, 2.3 T5, much lower miles) and got similar results to you. I will redo the test with a warm engine etc, and you should probably do the same. It is the cheap option! Hopefully we'll both end up with more like the 180 that has been mentioned. Steve

unplug the injectors or by the time you get to the last cylinder the fuel will wash the oil away and give a false low reading (bore wash).

compression tests
I was given a 740 once and I spent a little time on it, until I tested the compression .Only 90, so it got weighed in .But got £175 from the yard so time not wasted !

Hi KBB
Wouldn't it be even better to remove the fuel pump fuse? Steve
