Default Climate control usage

Hi this is my first post, just collected my 2012 XC60 SE yesterday and was wondering if you can change both sides of the climate control at the same time?

No. One of the benefits of having separate controls for the driver and passenger !

My previous car was a Volvo C30 in which it was possible to synchronise both sides using a single control. Now I have an XC60 it does seem a little odd adjusting both controls both with and without a passenger. I am not sure if it is an improvement or not?

Try an elastic band between the knobs...or never carrying passengers?

Does seem a bit daft this, every other car I've had with multi zone had a mono setting.

I've never had a problem with changing the settings on the Climate/control. Sometimes I feel that some people are just a bit quick to moan about simple things. In fact I don't find you have to change the settings that often.

You obviously don't have occasional passengers that seem to only want it at 16 or 28 and leave it like that then!

Wink Erm...

There is a facility to do this in my XC60. I found it on the first day I had the car. Bit more complex than in my Peugeot.

Peugeot Version

1. Let go of steering wheel (This step is important)
2. Reach arm 10 inches to left
3. Press button catchily labelled 'Mono'

XC60 Version

1. Let go of steering wheel
2. Reach arm 14 inches left
3. Grasp dial with fingers
4. Rotate dial n degrees

So roughly 25% more complex that in the Peugeot.

I found that step 4 under the XC60 instructions was quite difficult to start with, but mastered it after 1 go...

Sorry; couldn't resist... Must confess I spent a while looking for the Mono equivalent button myself....

What I find odd is there is no vent that shuts off the blower to the footwells. If my passenger has the blower on their side to their feet, I as the driver have no way of shutting my side off. Although my car is a 2010 model I dont know if the newer models have altered this error.

As far as I can see there is only one control for the direction of the blowers, I've never had a car with anything else.

While this "duel zone" oddness from volvo is slightly annoying, it's the only gripe I have with the car. So really not a big deal for me!

My Wife's BMW 1 series allows you to choose the airflow direction independently for driver and passenger.

It's the only car I've ever seen this on though.
