Default Volvo 480 performance upgrades

Right, I know I shouldn't be thinking this at all BUT, having just sold my Jaguar X type to a young guy with a 480 which he'll be selling, what's the most you can sensibly get out of one of these and keep it reliable.
I'm thinking Hillclimb car as an alternative to the more usual but it would have to fit in either the up to 2litre class against Renault 5GT Turbo/Pug 205 or over 2 litre against Porsche 944 and Impreza(!).

OK just a thought....

Massively depends on whether it's a Turbo or not.

Turbos run at around 180bhp with a modded ecu and boost at 14psi.

Not bad really considering they only weigh just a nudge over a ton.
If you're going for hillclimbing, strip them out and I'm sure you'd be able to get them down to 900kg or so, maybe even less.

Best bet is to go and have a good look around 480 Club Europe's forum.

Thanks
Not really sure of the engine spec., he collected his new car today but came down in a Ford...
All I know is it had aftermarket wheels I think, needed some welding on the sills and a couple of other MoT jobs. And the paint laquer was peeling.
190bhp under a tonne not bad but that's the turbo so will go up against Impreza etc.

Yeah.

Unfortunately, the N/A needs mega money throwing at it, for minimal gains.

Hhmmm
looked like a inexpensive and different way into competition but that may not be the case.
Thanks
