Coolant and oil levels are OK, oil looks like it has petrol in it though, does smell of it strongly when opening the filler cap and on the districk. No mayonnaise on the oil and no oil in the coolant, that dosent smell and is still fresh from the rad change a few months ago.

Not sure why no.3 is so high, that spark plug looked like new and the piston looks really clean looking through the plug hole. Theory is that it's not burning anything or its burning so cleanly that it's giving all my power lol

Yeah I did a bottom end rebuild but didn't do anything with the head apart from have a tuning shop Polish it and double spring the valves. Im gonna take the head apart myself this time I think.

I've got a spare engine fortunately, that just needs a tidy-up and the bits in robbed from it putting back on...ps does sideways towers need any 440 rear end bits?

Hmm... Don't understand why a piston would crack though, or even rings give out if you'd put new in?

As for needing bits, I don't suppose it's an auto that you're breaking?

I think it's an optical illusion, and it's just the edge of the cup we are seeing,

The car I'm breaking is a manual

Hmm... My money's still on a valve then.

A cylinder leak-down test will tell you if the problem is in the lower section (piston/rings/bore) or the upper section (HG/Valves).
