I have a V50 T5 GEARTRONIC. Recently did an ECU upgrade. Although there is an improvement in torque, I don't feel or see this on the motorway when car is in fifth gear.
When I press down on the accelerator I can hear the engine note climb but the ‘autobox’ doesn’t change and I have to push the pedal more than two thirds down to get some decent pickup of speed. All that takes place is the fuel consumption taking a huge dive and not much return in speed increase. That said, if I use the manual mode and put car in third before pressing on the accelerator, the pick-up is fabulous. At 80mph in fifth, the car shows a rev of 2200rpm. That seems rather low. If I double the figure to 4400revs, in theory it should be 160mph and at 6600 the speed is...!! NO WAY. something isn't right. This car needs a sport button as found on a BMW. I think it would help. Is there any one that is able to reprogram the shift box for better response when the pedal is depressed? i.e. change to 3rd/4th gear sooner rather than remaining on fifth longer? This problem is only exaggerated on the motorway up to 85mph. If the electronic throttle position can be reprogrammed with the geartronic for a more spirited driving on the motorway, I would like to know who does it. Thanks regards ERIC V |
